TCW internship work

Here is some recent work I've been doing for my internship at Today's Chicago Woman Magazine! Most of what I do is layout design, but last month there were a high number of clients that needed an ad designed. Here's a mixture of work from the past couple of months.

depARTment poster

This is an art department promotional poster I designed for Trinity Christian College's art gallery. It basically shows when each show is taking place and where. The challenge here was making sure it was bold and noticeable to people walking by it. I had a good time playing around with the typographic elements and I think it turned out nicely!

Ayden Lee

Here's a mock-up Magic Mailer ad I designed for Adyen Lee's new clothing store located in Ames, IA.

Life Light

Life Light asked me to design a T-shirt for the 2010 Life Light Music Festival. Seen here is the design that includes the compass icon along with the Life Light logo.

Happy The Dog Ministries

Lately I've been working on some Happy the Dog Ministry design projects. Founded in 2007, Happy the Dog Ministry partners with Christian organizations around the country. Leading worship experiences, Happy The Dog Ministry strives to bring people to Christ and nurture the lifelong relationship though both their band called "Jonahs Wale" and various speakers who are part of the ministry.The first few images are t-shirts I've designed for their Summer 2010 collection. These last few images is their new promotion poster I designed for their events. The colored spot at the bottom of the poster is where the event time and place can be written by those hosting Happy The Dog Ministry.

Hue Socks

One of my favorite design series in my portfolio is my Hue Advertisement series! Having to create an ad for any brand we wanted, I decided to go with Hue and create an argyle sock collection series. I wanted to combine a few different styles so I choose a retro style complimented with a scribble style to give it a playful affect.

Chick Flick Debunk

In this series I debunk the chick flick movie genre. To give a little history, chick flicks started around the time the feminist movement was in action. Ladies wanted movies directed towards the female audience so Hollywood produced the first chick flick, Breakfast at Tiffany's.

The reason I chose to debunk chick flicks is because I feel that they tend to place false perceptions of what love is into women young and old. This champaign deals with the reality of what a chick flick does to women and girls when it comes to the subject of love and real relationships. Heres the complete series in three different mediums.

Web Design

All the technical and design kinks haven't been completely worked out yet, but here is my new web page I designed/coded. I hope to have the final version of it up by tomorrow. On a side note an official design/photography portfolio site is in its beginning stages! Hopefully within the next few weeks I'll have my website up and I'll officially be in business!

Destiny Brochure

It's been a bit since I've done some updating so what a better time than 3:00a.m when you can't get to sleep! Since I've been so busy with my web designing class I haven't really had lot of time to concentrate on keeping my online life up to date. However, among all the busyness of entering into the OPUS contest (and getting 4 of my designs in the final round :) ) I found time to do some work for my Destiny Family Medical Clinic. They needed a brochure/post card for their outreach program, so I willingly donated some hours of my time to create this for them. It keeps me in touch my conservative designing side. (Which is a side that is good to visit. :)

Jonahs Wale

Jonah's Wale, a band located in Sioux Falls South Dakota, needed a revamp design on one of their CD covers. Heres a design I did for their group in 2008.

Facebook fone

This was a collaborative idea to expand facebook. Making facebook mobile with its own facebook fone. The idea was that facebook would sponsor these phones and be an easier way to socialize for facebook junkies. I created a set of magazine ads to advertise this concept each focusing on different parts of the facebook fone

So I've decided to expand and create a blog site displaying my graphic design/web design as well. Heres a start to what I've done and a few things Im proud of when it comes to my personal design work. Currently I'm working on web design and learning the tricks to THAT trade. Let me tell ya, its been an adventure learning web design, but Im learning to enjoy this new medium! Anyway, heres what I got!
